discovering god on the web

Seeking to discover what is truly within the Bible’s pages. We want to know what is really there; not merely what we think is written; or what others have told us is written. We want to work out how it affects our lives today. We don’t claim to have all the answers. But we do have a lot of questions. Why not join in?

A Nudge From A Friend

Late last year I wrote about the idea of a spiritual journey that was about to embark on. Well, like all things that I seemed to try and start at the end of the year, I didn’t get very far (please Glenn accept my apologies on that one). So, with a new year well and truly here (Happy New Year all by the way) I’m being nudged again about starting this journey.

Just when I was forgetting why or what I had decided to do I received an unexpected email, quite out of the blue, form an old friend. I had been involved in leadership with this person for a number of years during, and shortly after, my time at university. Without going into too many details, our time in leadership together was marred by repeated attack from outside and a lot of negativity was spoken to us and over us.

I had completely forgotten about this really. But my friend had felt provoked by God to pray for me recently; that this negativity would be broken and that any barriers or issues that have resulted would be removed, and healing take place etc etc. And then, completely out of character for them, God asked them to tell me about it.

In many ways I’m not sure what to make of it. I don’t feel particularly damaged or that I have an issue as a result of that time but I find it very interesting that this should come when I am working on my Rapha journey. The focus of the journey is to get deeper with God by removing all the rubbish patterns of behaviour etc that we build up, unknowingly, as a kind of self defence, following events that happen to us and around us.

I don’t that this is a coincidence. So I am taking it as a nudge from God to get my act together and start the journey to see where it leads.

I consistently find it entertaining, and also quite incredible, how God chooses to communicate with us. This is a fantastic example of how, if we are obiedent to God, He will move in our lives. My friends obiedence, to contact me out of the blue, has started something for me. I’m looking forward to see what God is going to do with me this year as a result.
