This week we march on through Luke 16. Things seem to be getting a little strange.

Questions

The main questions that came up were;

  1. Shrewd business man? How can God encourage his behaviour?
  2. What is the story all about at the end? Heaven, void, errrr….?

Discussion

Most of the evening focused on the parable of the shrewd business man. This seems, at first glance, so far removed from much of the rest of what we have read elsewhere that it just doesn’t make sense. God seems to encourage dishonesty and use of other “worldliness” if the end results are going to be positive.

We discussed what this could mean and how it fits with our understanding of how we live in world but not of it. Etc.

This lead to how we use money, and how we interact with people generally. What does it mean to be shrewd for the kingdom.

A great discussion. I think we all left feeling challenged.

Drinks consumed were:  Tangle Food, 6X, Carlsberg
